ANXIETY & DEPRESSION
Anxiety is the most common mental health condition in Australia. One in five men – will experience anxiety at some stage in their life. In a 12-month period, over two million Australians experience anxiety.
There are many ways to help manage anxiety and the sooner people with anxiety get support, the more likely they are to recover.
Depression can present in many different ways, and it's often a combination of factors that can contribute to developing depression. It's important to remember that you can't always identify the cause of depression or change difficult circumstances. The most important thing is to recognise the signs and symptoms and seek support.
STRESS
Stress is a common response to tough events or situations. Some stress is normal and stress itself is not anxiety or depression. However, severe and ongoing stress may be a risk factor if it persists.
LIFE CHANGES
Life Changes can be hard to deal with. Becoming a parent, dealing with sudden job loss or career change, grieving the loss of a loved one. Unexpected change can be very challenging and requires support.
SEPARATION & DIVORCE
Relationships are challenging - setting boundaries, having respectful communication and honest conversations takes work. Sometimes marriages end up in separation and divorce and can be one of the most challenging life changes you will ever face. Starting again can seem impossible and maintaining relationships with your children even harder. There is light at the end of the tunnel however. We can help you find it.
PARENTING
Unfortunatley there is no real Parenting handbook. Having a baby is the easy bit. We quite often end up making the same "mistakes" as our parents did. As you go through the stages of your child's development you need to adapt your communication and parenting skills to manage. We often forget what it was like to be a child/adolecent ourselves.
ANGER
Anger can become a problem when it affects a person’s daily life and/or relationships. This might be because they find their feelings of anger overwhelming or hard to control, because they express their anger in ways that might hurt themselves or others around them, or because they find it hard to express their anger. Difficulties with anger can be a sign that someone might be experiencing sadness, depression, isolation, discrimination, or another mental health difficulty.
Learning to be aware of our anger and to express it in a safe and healthy way is an important part of good mental health. If you feel angry a lot or have trouble controlling or expressing your anger, there are lots of things you can do to help manage this in a healthy way.
